SHEFFIELD Eagles coach Mark Aston has warned his players not to get carried away following their midweek victory over York City Knights.
An impressive performance saw the Eagles claim their first victory in the Championship by 28-10 and prevent the home team from scoring a point in the final 60 minutes.
Strong defence and five tries helped wipe out the memory of a 44-16 defeat to Widnes Vikings at Bramall Lane only four days before.
But at training the squad has had a sharp reminder that it’s only two games into the season and big home games against Toulouse Olympique and Halifax are coming up.
“The lads had a smile on their face and rightly so; they played well and getting that first win and three points is important,” said Aston.
“The lads will be up in training and now I have to keep their feet on the ground and make sure we go about things as professionals.
“We won’t get the idea that we are better than we are, we have to keep working hard and I’m sure we can get more results like that.”
Aston says there is still room for improvement and is determined to keep his players focus on the game against Toulouse at Bramall Lane next Saturday.
He added: “A lot of people are starting to show what I have wanted and that’s important coming into some big games.”
