Relax: Fergie goes to Hartlepool - boss reveals different approach to final game

Doncaster travel to Hartlepool United (5.30pm) for what promises to be an emotion-fuelled 90 minutes.

Second-placed Rovers must better the result of leaders Plymouth Argyle at Grimsby Town to win the title, while Hartlepool must win to stand any chance of avoiding dropping out of the Football League.

Ferguson this week suggested his ‘relentlessness’ to win the title since gaining promotion may not have helped a situation which sees Rovers go into their final game on the back of three straight defeats - and has changed his approach slightly in the build-up to tomorrow.

“We’ve sort of relaxed them a lot this week and taken out maybe a bit of the intensity in the training,” said Ferguson.

“Because we’re in the last week of the season - and regardless of what happens on Saturday we’ve had a great season - we wanted to make sure the players enjoyed the last week of training.

“Once we’ve had the game on Saturday I’ll have my meetings with them on Monday and that’ll be them done for the summer.

“So the important thing for this week was to get a relaxing week and it will be again tomorrow [Friday].

“The players have been very good.”

Ferguson has no fresh injury worries.

Tomorrow’s game is heading for a sell-out, with Hartlepool offering home fans tickets for £5.
