The reigning champions of greyhound racing’s biggest team event are hoping to take a major step towards retaining their title tonight (Friday 28 November).
Owlerton Greyhound Stadium is gearing up for the final heat of the prestigious Bookmakers’ Afternoon Greyhound Services (BAGS) Intertrack Championship.
Owlerton will be going head-to-head with Nottingham and Kinsley on home soil for a place in the grand final next month and the chance to win £12,500 in prize money.
Sheffield’s team currently sits in second place, 31 points behind leaders Kinsley, after the previous heats at Nottingham and Kinsley.
Dave Perry, general manager at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, said: “We’re confident we can make up the points deficit in the third and final BAGS Championship heat, particularly as it’s on home soil which will be a big advantage.
“It certainly makes for an exciting finale to what is greyhound racing’s biggest team event so it should be a great spectacle for the local crowd.
“We hope lots of people head down to Owlerton tonight to cheer on the Sheffield team.”
