Tips and analysis ahead of Friday's meeting at Doncaster

The first race is at 11.55am with the finale at 3.25pm. We have previewed the action with stats and analysis.

One of the feature races of the day is the £12,200 Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (1.42pm) which features a small but select field of five runners. Top-weight Captain Blackpearl returned to action from a wind surgery with a facile 13-length win at Kempton last month and despite a 13lb rise in the weights, that may not be enough to stop him. Goa Lil was talented over hurdles, but has struggled in two races over fences so far this term.

Evander is another horse who is winless in two starts over fences, but shaped nicely at Market Rasen on his latest start and is capable of further improvement. Shut The Box made a fine start to life over fences when an eye-catching third at Wincanton and should improve a bundle for that outing.

The other £12,200 contest on the card is a Conditional Jockeys’ Veterans’ Handicap Chase (2.52pm). Horatio Hornblower is a former course and distance winner and whilst he has struggled in two runs so far this term, he is capable of returning to form. Rathlin Rose has excellent form over fences, but must prove he still retains his zest and enthusiasm for the game.

Others to consider include Silver Tassie who was a good third cat Wetherby on his penultimate effort, whilst Oh Land Abloom is another to note having shaped well on two starts over fences so far.

The other big race of the day is the £10,500 Handicap Hurdle at 2.17pm. The unexposed Carys’ Commodity has won both of his starts this season, justifying favouritism on both occasions. Raised only 4lb for his latest win at Wincanton, that may not be enough to stop him and he is of interest here.

Glynn looks an exciting sort for Nicky Henderson. He scored at Doncaster in January over hurdles on his first start for the master of Seven Barrows and has since undergone wind surgery. An opening handicap mark of 134 is high enough, but is thoroughly unexposed and has to be of interest.

Others to note include Ecco who has eighth in the Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las in October, before finishing third at Ascot in November and is capable of further improvement.

Joint top-weight Canyon City was third on his chasing debut at Fakenham and is of interest reverting back to hurdles as is Doctor Dex who is on a retrieval mission following two disappointing efforts over fences. Eaton Hill is another to consider having finished second on heavy ground at Ffos Las in November, but may be suited by conditions and his low weight in a race which could throw up some talented horses to monitor in the months to come in the National Hunt sphere.
