Last weekend, they announced that six feet three inches tall Adrian Saxrud Danielsen will be drafted in to bulk up their defence.

Today they completed the formalities to add winger Sondre Olden, who is an inch taller.

Sheffield fans have enjoyed watching towering players in orange jerseys before of course, but they have not had a Norwegian pair who should bring plenty of physical presence to the roster.

Olden is a player who showed incredible promise during his early career; he was drafted in the third round (79th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2010.

Greg McKegg, centre for the Boston Bruins, was always hugely complimentary about Olden, whom he played with at Erie Otters in the OHL.

The left-shooter has a rich history of representing Norway at both senior and junior level.

This season he recorded virtually a point a game for Vålerenga in Oslo.

"Sondre is a dynamic offensive player who is a game changer" said Sheffield coach Aaron Fox, who had the player under his influence at Medvescak Zagreb between 2017-19.

"He comes to Sheffield with a wealth of European and national team experience and should fit nicely into our group.

"It will be good to work with him again, we were together in Zagreb and he was a top player for me and in our League" said Fox.

"I'm excited to have him here for this series to show him what a great spot Sheffield is and hopefully help us achieve our goals in this series".

Olden played one year of junior in North American before then playing his career in Europe with time in the major leagues in Sweden, Austria and Norway.

He is described by the hockey website eliteprospects as: "A lanky and offensively skilled forward with surprisingly quick feet."

The site adds: "Olden is a creative player with good hockey sense and strong technical skills.

"A pretty productive player, that thrives on the Power Play unit, that will put up points on the board, but also contribute defensively. Has, however, some inconsistency issues and must bulk up."
