Wolverhampton-based Morris will occupy one of the reserve spots in the powerhouse side for their first season in the top level in 30 years.

Morris started last season at his local club and Sheffield have brought him in because they believe he can score reasonable points on some of the smaller away tracks.

He said: “I was surprised to get the call from Sheffield to be honest.

“The team they’re putting together is amazing and to be a part of it myself is going to be great.”

He admits a broken wrist ruined his 2019 campaign with both Wolves and neighbours Birmingham.

“I missed the second half of the season through injury and normally that means you can be forgotten,” he said.

“But the first half of my season didn’t exactly go to plan with Wolves either.

“I don’t know what it was but it just didn’t click this time and it was really frustrating.

“I know I’m capable of scoring so many more points than I did this year and that’s what made it worse.

“But to be given another opportunity in the top league by Sheffield means a lot to me and I’m ready to take the chance with both hands."
