By the end of heat four, they had charged into a 10 point lead, although Sheffield rallied to narrow the gap to two points by the end of heat seven after changes to the riders’ set ups. Those heats included Holder and Howarth securing Tigers’ only 5-1 of the night in heat five, against Neils Kristian Iversen and Benjamin Basso.

King’s Lynn won back to back 5-1 in heats nine and 10 to restore their 10 point lead, with the remaining five hears all drawn 3-3.

It leaves Sheffield needing to win by more than 10 points at Owlerton, when they will face a Stars side which will include Grand Prix rider Jan Kvech, the Czech racer having been announced today as a new signing for the East Anglian club, as well as former Tiger Tobi Musielak, who missed tonight’s game for the Stars through injury.
