Speedway: 'Pressure's on Belle Vue' says Sheffield boss ahead of grand final decider
Title decider will be run on Friday night
Sheffield boss Simon Stead is refusing to give up on Tigers winning this season’s speedway Premiership Grand Final, despite Monday’s first leg defeat to Belle Vue
Following a late turnaround by the visitors, the Tigers were narrowly beaten 47-43 at Owlerton on Monday meaning they head to the National Speedway Stadium with a four point aggregate deficit on Friday (October 16, 7.30pm).
Belle Vue have a 100 per cent home record this term and the Tigers haven’t tasted success in Manchester since May 2024.

But team boss Simon Stead insists his side are refusing to throw in the towel - despite the odds being stacked against them.
“There’s still another 15 heats to go,” he said.
“The pressure is certainly on them now - we’ve got nothing to lose and wouldn’t it be great if we could pull something out of the bag and pull off something really special.
“We’ve shown in the past we can go well at Belle Vue, but we’ll need to be at our very best collectively on this occasion.”
Sheffield name the same team which sees former Belle Vue rider Max Fricke guest at number one whilst the hosts bring in Nicolai Klindt in place of the injured Peter Kildemand.
Supporters are advised to arrive early, says the club, with a large attendance expected,
