Barnsley's Oliver Rowland aims to be more consistent as he the new Formula E Championship kicks off this weekend.

The popular motorsport series that uses electric cars returns for the new campaign with the first race in Saudi Arabia, with the BBC streaming coverage all weekend.

Rowland, who is entering his second full season in the sport, says he needs to be more consistent this year after finishing 10th last time out.

“I had a lot of poles in the middle of the season and I was very fast, but I need to work on my consistency this year," said Rowland.

"I don't want to say I can win the Championship now, but I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I could compete with everybody.

"Who knows - I think we have a great car, great team, so if everything comes together there's no reason we shouldn't be fighting for it."

The Championship will return to London for the season finale double-header in July 2020, giving fans the chance to watch Rowland on home soil for the first time.

Mercedes-Benz and Porsche will be making their Formula E debut this year to join fellow grid beasts Audi and BMW in what promises to be another intriguing year.

This season will also see Attack Mode, a boost which lets every driver pick up an extra 25kW hit of power by driving through the set Activation Zone, increased to 35kW.
