Howarth won the Championship with the club back in 2017 but struggled with injuries last season.

Now he’s raring to go and is thrilled to be back at Owlerton as part of the new era following promotion at last week’s AGM.

He said: “Sheffield’s obviously a club that means a lot to me.

“I’ve been with them a fair few years now and I’ve always said I feel at home there.

“I do feel I could’ve done better at times last season but people know me by now and they know I always give it my best.

“I wanted to have a clear run at things this year but I’ve had some knocks and I’ve had some time off the bike which hasn’t helped.

“But hopefully things will go my way next year and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Tigers boss Simon Stead said: “Keeping Kyle at the club is the logical thing to do and it gives us some continuity.

“There will be a lot of new faces in the team so it’s nice for us to keep Kyle.

“He’s got plenty of experience at this level and he can do a good job for the team. We are pleased he’s staying with us and I’m sure the fans will be.

“Hopefully he can be injury free throughout the season and play his part in a successful season.”
