Tigers race their first home meeting since September 2019 on what is sure to be an emotional night for supporters.

Wolverhampton, who include former Tigers rider Broc Nicol, arrive at Owlerton on the back of two thumping wins at King’s Lynn and at home to Ipswich on Monday.

New signing Adam Ellis will make his home debut alongside Jack Holder, Troy Batchelor and James Wright – and he can’t wait.

“It will be good to have all the boys together,” he said. “It’s also going to be good to ride on my new home track, but I might be a little nervous because there will be no home track advantage yet.

“I’m really excited about joining Sheffield and I enjoyed being in the team at Ipswich last Thursday. Wolverhampton are a strong team, you only have to look at their results to see that, but we’ll give it our best shot.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the Sheffield fans and hopefully we can celebrate the sport being back there with a home win.”

Tigers are expecting a sold out crowd for this meeting with severe restrictions on numbers in place to enable the sport to return to Owlerton.

Co-promoter Peter Mole said: “It is a special meeting for me, Wolves being my local team, and they always make me very welcome throughout the season on my visits there.

“Chris Van Straaten and Peter Adams are two of the most respected figures in British speedway, their achievements speak for themselves, it is an honour to welcome them both to Sheffield.

“Their results have been stunning so far and our boys will need to be on top of their game.

“We would also like to thank supporters for their patience and understanding regarding stadium rules during this time and hopefully things can change after June 21 and we can have more fans.”
