Sheffield Tigers: Consistency key to getting season on track believes King
Danny King says Sheffield Tigers need to find some consistency when they face Scunthorpe at Owlerton on Sunday.
King is keen to remind fans of the misfortune suffered by the team on occasions so far this season – but the buck stops with the riders to put it right.
They went out of the Knockout Cup at Glasgow on Tuesday despite a promising start and the Championship is their remaining interest this season.
They’ve already dropped some unexpected points where that’s concerned but a big win over Scunthorpe on Sunday would boost confidence.
Said King: “Of course there have been a few results we’ve been disappointed with but we have had some really tough meetings as well.
“We’ve had our fair share of bad luck as well with bike problems, engine seizures, punctures, chain snaps, refereeing decisions not quite going our way and things like that but we’ve still managed to get some good wins under our belt at the same time.
“We know we’re a solid side throughout and there’s still plenty more to come from us as a group.

“I’m sure we can find some consistency and get our league season back on track but we need to do it on Sunday at home – that’s the main priority for us now.”
Sunday’s meeting will now start at the later time of 5.30 following a decision made by club bosses.
Co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We had feedback from people saying 4pm left them with nothing else to do in the afternoon and then in the evening – it was in between.
“Hopefully this way people can do something in the afternoon and then come to the speedway and it’s still early enough for youngsters to come along, enjoy the racing and still be in bed at a reasonable time for school the next day.
“We have taken all this on board and made this decision but reading social media it seems clear you can’t please all the people all the time.
“Hopefully we will see a good crowd with a good atmosphere on Sunday and the team can enjoy a good win against Scunthorpe who are our main rivals these days.”
