And speaking from his home in Australia, he’s thrilled to be with the Tigers.

“I’m pretty excited by the move,” he said. “I’m based in Dorset which was handy for Poole, but I don’t mind travelling when I know I’m going to a nice track which Sheffield is.

“The stadium is good too and I’m told it’s improved even more since I was last there.”

Holder was a team-mate of Pedersen’s in Sweden last season and admits the swoop for the Dane is an ‘awesome’ move.

He said: “It’s awesome that they could get Nicki, it was big news for British Speedway so hopefully he brings the crowds in.

“I was team mates with him in Sweden this year so I know him pretty well, it should be a good year.”

Holder is confident of scoring well on his new home track after making the winter move from Poole who have been relegated.

“My first time there at Sheffield I was a bit worried about the big dirt line it had,” he said. “But I’m used to it now and I go good round there so it will be a good home track to have.”

Tigers co-promoter Damien Bates said: “Jack is a class act and he supplements the signings we have already made superbly.

“I’m really pleased and very excited by the way the team is shaping up and can’t wait for the season to start, it’s a shame it’s a long way off!”
