The showdown, which was originally scheduled for July 2, is now due to take place at Sheffield FlyDSA Arena on Thursday, October 15 – subject to the UK’s coronavirus restrictions being lifted.
The campaign has been suspended since mid-March due to COVID-19 but the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) today announced new dates for the planned fixtures.
The announcement is a major coup for Sheffield. The city already hosts the World Snooker Championship at The Crucible Theatre, and the fact World Snooker Tour chairman Barry Hearn also heads up the PDC may have something to do with its selection.
The revised Premier League dates – subject to no further events being cancelled – are:
July 30 - Utilita Arena BirminghamAugust 13 - The SSE Arena, BelfastAugust 20 - The O2, LondonAugust 27 - First Direct Arena, LeedsSeptember 3 - Mercedes-Benz Arena, BerlinSeptember 9-10 - Rotterdam AhoySeptember 17 - The SSE Hydro, GlasgowSeptember 24- The Manchester ArenaOctober 1 - Utilita Arena, NewcastleOctober 15 - The FlyDSA Arena, Sheffield
The PDC said tickets purchased would remain valid for the new dates and any ticketholders unable to make those dates would be entitled to a refund from the seller.
