Athletics: EIS to host Northern Indoor Championships this weekend

The Northern Indoor Championships take place at Sheffield’s EIS this weekend.

The meetings start at 10am on both days.

Adam Walker-Khan (City of Sheffield and Dearne) second in the 200m last year, is entered for that event again as well as the 400m whilst teammate Connor Regan contests the 60m and 200m. Thomas Hughes (Hallamshire) defends his high jump title and is also listed for the long jump.

In the women’s events Chesterfield international hurdler Alicia Barrett goes for the 60m as well as her specialist 60m hurdles.

Abigail Roberts (City of Sheffield) is entered for the pole vault along with Chesterfield’s Hannah Moody whilst Hannah Molyneaux (City of Sheffield), winner of the under-20 shot last year, moves up to the senior ranks.

Other City of Sheffield senior women include Abigail Bishell (60m and 200m), Eleanor Rawson (200m) and Emily Simpson (1500m).

In the under-20 age group Oliver Bolland (City of Sheffield), moves up after winning the under-17 400m last year whilst Oliver Dakin (Chesterfield), bronze medallist last year, goes again in the 60m hurdles.

In the under-20 women’s section, Acacia Williams-Hewitt (Hallamshire) moves up after winning the under-17 title last year whilst Melissa Coxon (Rotherham) has entered the 200m, 400m and 60m hurdles. Other under-20 contenders include Ellie Booker (Rotherham) in the 200m and Lois Green (Chesterfield) in the pole vault.

In the under-17 age group David Chapman (City of Sheffield), third in the 400m last year, goes for that event again as well as the 200m where he will be challenged by Nathaniel Dyas (Hallamshire) whilst Chesterfield’s William Foot defends his pole vault title.

Daphney Adebayo (City of Sheffield) is a strong contender in the 60m and long jump, as is Nandy Kihuyu (Hallamshire) in the 300m whilst Hallamshire pair Shen Wigfield-Turner and Emma Shipley clash in the 800m.
