Abigail Roberts out for glory in Northern Indoor Open at EIS

The pole vault looks set to be a major attraction at the Northern Indoor Open at the EIS on Saturday.

Some high class vaulting is expected with City of Sheffield and Dearne’s Abigail Roberts in the women’s event.

William Lane (City of Sheffield) and William Foot (Chesterfield) go in the U17 men while Chesterfield’s Hannah Moody is in the U17 women.

Action gets underway at 10.15am.

Nicola Devine could take a major step towards the women’s title in the South Yorkshire Cross Country League this weekend.

The Rotherham runner has won the first two races in the senior women’s section as she prepares for the third event at Kiveton Country Park on Sunday.

The league title is decided on the three best performances from the competitions four races, with the final race – which doubles as the South Yorkshire Championship – being compulsory.

Devine would carry a major advantage with another victory under her belt this weekend.

The men’s section has produced two winners so far with Andy Heyes of Hallamshire and Rotherham’s Lee Milburn victorious.
