How many of the starting XI that day can you remember, and what happened to them after they left Bramall Lane? Let’s have a look...
9. Dane Whitehouse
One-club man Whitehouse's United career spanned 13 years and the Sheffield-born star scored 50 goals in 275 appearances for the Blades - becoming a cult hero among the Bramall Lane faithful for a knack of scoring against arch rivals Wednesday. He was forced to retire from the game in 2000 due to a serious knee injury sustained in a game against Port Vale during the 1997-98 campaign. Photo: Steve Ellis
10. Ian Bryson
Better known as 'Jock', Bryson played 150 times for the Blades and scored one of their goals in a 6-0 win over Spurs in the Premier League. Later had a spell coaching youngsters in Preston's academy Photo: Chris Holt
11. Brian Deane
United bought 'Deano' from Doncaster Rovers for just £25,000 in 1988 . . . and the rest as they say is history. Deane went onto play for England and is one of the club's greatest-ever goalscorers, with his place in United folklore firmly assured. He also made football history by becoming the first scorer in the Premier League when the Blades defeated Manchester United 2-1 at Bramall Lane in August 1992.
