No joy for Rossington at Askern as home bowlers shine

ASKERN romped to an 84-31 Doncaster Bowls Association Doubles League Division One victory over visiting Rossington.

The best of Askern’s four winning pairs were Mick Wainwright and Dennis Reilly (21-1) and Don Howe and Eddie Curtis (21-5).

Denaby never looked back in their 83-56 win over Pilks Recreation after Chris Jones and Martin Scott (21-5) had given them an excellent start.

Frank Potts and Brian Line (21-9) and Richard Brelsford and Bob Crowe (21-7) were the best winners for Westfield Park in their 76-52 victory over Yorkshire Main.

Chris Jones and Mick Taylor (21-2) were the only winning pair for Denaby, but they did enough to win the match (69-65)for their team at Yorkshire Main.

Warwick Buttery and Jack Richardson’s 21-4 win secured Thorpe Marsh Bentley a 67-65 Division Two victory over Thorpe Marsh Bentley despite the best efforts of Danny Ruffini and Terry Plant (21-9) for Eden Grove-Peglers.

Pilkingtons Rec B started their match against Armthorpe B, whom they beat 84-48, with a 21-9 win from Paul Rice and Pete Bilsland, and finished with the same result from John and Hannah Brown.

Wickersley Social Club pipped Unison 77-7

Brian Nock and Jean Hopson (21-6) wrapped up Adwick’s 78-58 Division Three win over Eden Grove-Peglers.

Matthew Griffiths and Mick Gilbert (21-8) were the best pairing for Bentley Colliery in their 84-46 win over Adwick B.

John Stead and Chris Haigh (21-2) were the only winners for Hexthorpe as league chairman Ray Hall and Harry Oxberry (21-8) and Brian Nock and Jean Hopson (21-3) performed well for Adwick in their 65-46 away success.

Father and daughter Bob and Natasha Jackson won 21-6 for Yorkshire Main B in their 84-57 win over Bentley.

Last pair Ken Fishwick and Harold Wren (21-6) were the best of Rossington B’s four winners in their 84-41 Division Four victory over Pilks Rec D. Norman Hallatt and Mick Prince (21-6) were the pick of Denaby B’s winners in their 84-42 victory at Pilks Red D,

*Pilkingtons Recreation C (rec 47) booked their place in the Eric Warren Handicap final for the second year by beating holders Adwick B (rec 45) 208-163. They will meet Yorkshire Main B in the final.

Main (rec 52) beat Bentley Colliery (rec 66) 215-177.

*Pils Rec beat beat Over-60s Doubles League Division One rivals Roundwood 73-57. Yorks Main beat Westfield Park 77-71 in Division Two.
