SHEFFIELD superstar Nick Matthew has set his sights on becoming the Super Series champion this week.
The 30-year-old, ranked number one in the world, leads a strong eight man field at the PSA World Series Finals, which gets underway today at the Queen's Club.
Fresh off the back of scooping the double gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and winning the World Open title, Matthew is expected to prevail in London.
Matthew, nominated for the top prize at the South Yorkshire Awards next week, said: "This event is the culmination of a gruelling yearlong tour, so I am thrilled it will not just provide players, but also fans, with an exciting experience. What better way to compete for the championship title than on a state of the art court, right here on home soil."
The 30-year-old faces Egyptian Wael El Hindi in his opening Group B match tonight. England team-mate James Willstrop and former world champion Amr Shabana are also in Matthew's section.
