Melissa puts Abbeydale on Wright track

Newly-promoted Abbeydale B's rising star Melissa Wright, registered a hat-trick in Division One of the Sheffield League, with wins over the experienced Crookes team of Mick Bell, Mick Jarvis and Craig Straw.

Fifteen-year-old Wright, ranked nine in the England under-17s list, was well supported by Glyn Hawley and Tim Wright who each scored braces in a 7-3 victory. A Mick Bell brace was the best for the visitors.

In Division Two, Stuart Element took a maximum in the 7-3 win over Don Valley C at the Institute for Sport. Element's son Richard accounted for Glenn Brooke and Phil Arliss ground out wins over Brooke and Louis Havenhand.

The powerful-looking team of Alan Jenkins, Chris Guard and Adrian Elson maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of Division Three as they hammered Wadsley Bridge D 9-1 at Darnall.
