Winger Matty Dawson-Jones has penned a new one-year deal with the Sheffield Eagles, which will see him remain in South Yorkshire for 2025.

The wide-man scored 19 tries in 33 appearances in 2024, which saw him record his best-ever scoring record in a season as he finished as the club's joint-top scorer alongside full back Matty Marsh.

The 34-year-old former St Helens, Leigh and Bradford man first joined the Eagles ahead of the 2023 season, and he has gone on to score a total of 37 tries in 58 appearances so far for the club.

Earlier last season, he marked his 200th career appearance with a try as he helped them beat York Knights at the LNER Community Stadium in the Betfred Championship.

Speaking on his new deal, Dawson-Jones said “I’m over the moon to be staying at the club for another year.

"I’m looking forward to repaying the fans for their amazing support last season!

"I can’t wait to get stuck into next year, and hopefully we can make up for a disappointing end to the 2024 season.”

Dawson-Jones becomes the fourth player in recent weeks to sign a new deal with the Eagles for next season, following on from the earlier announcements of Evan Hodgson, Connor Bower and Kris Welham.
