sheffield’s Jonny Marray says he and doubles partner Jamie Delgado can make it into Wimbledon’s second week.
Marray, aged 30, and Delgado are through to round two after beating South American duo Carlos Berlocq and Ricardo Mello (7-6 (7-5) 3-6 8-6) in a hard-fought match on court six yesterday.
He told The Star the pair, who have won four tournaments this season, were confident ahead of their match with South African Wesley Moodie and Belgium’s Dick Norman: “We’ve made the third round before so there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.
“As you get older you get used to playing here, but it’s Wimbledon, so I still get nervous. We’ve won a lot of matches this year so we’re full of confidence. Jamie’s up to his highest ranking and I’m pretty close to mine.”
