Make a date for big tour

Rotherham's Rother Valley Country Park will be the starting point for the Yorkshire leg of this year's Tour of Britain cycle race on Thursday September 13.

Riders will leave Rother Valley Country Park at 10.15 am, heading north to the first sprint at Wickersley, then on to Bawtry, past Robin Hood Airport, and on towards Thorne and Hatfield Moors and eventually on to Bradford's Lister Park.

The Tour is one of a series of events that have been attracted to the region with the support of development agency Yorkshire Forward.

Johanna Tuck, Head of Strategy, South Yorkshire for Yorkshire Forward said: "Our investment has ensured that the race will continue to be held in the region, demonstrating that cycling really is one of the best ways to keep both healthy and fit, and good for the environment."

Hugh Roberts, Chief Executive of the Tour of Britain said: "This is the fourth year that the Tour has visited Yorkshire, and this route is one of the most scenic of the tour.
