Jack Lester is a big fan of the man who will stand in the adjacent technical area tomorrow afternoon.

The Chesterfield boss played alongside Shaun Derry for part of a season at Nottingham Forest and both men have now found their way into first team management in League Two.

Derry is a little ahead of Lester in terms of managerial experience – tomorrow will be his 182nd game as a gaffer and Lester’s sixth.

“Shaun Derry is a good manager, I like him, he’s a great guy,” said the Spireites boss.

“They’ve got a good manager, they’re effective, had a good win in the week so it will be a tough game.”

Tomorrow won’t be the first time Lester has clapped eyes on the U’s, however.

“I watched them at Mansfield at the start of the season and were the better team there,” he said.

“They have some pace and power.

“We’ll go there with the same intensity that we played with at Crawley.”
