WESTFIELD Park were whitewashed by Doncaster Bowls Association Midweek League Division One leaders Maltby Bowling Club.
Lee Davies (21-9) was the best of Maltby’s winners in their 168-100 victory.
Dave Gibson (21-9), Craig Rumney (21-6), Dave Smith (21-9) and Ivor Wilson (21-8) all showed up well in Pilkington Recreation’s 167-94 win over Thorpe Marsh-Bentley.
Thorpe Marsh-Bentlery carded a 155-130 win over Carcroft. Westfield Park produced better form to beat visiting Woodlands Park 152-138. Trevor Cotterill’s 21-4 win proved crucial for UNISON in thei 144-140 Division Two success at Adwick. Chris Simpson posted a 21-6 win for Rossington in their 167-123 win over Pilkington Recreation B.
UNISON edged a 154-144 win over visiting Armthorpe B. Norman Whittaker finished on the losing side despite winning 21-9 for Denaby B as Andrew Harrington (21-4) starred for Askern in their 145-109 Division Three victory. Eddie Birdsey’s 21-6 win came too late to save Thorne from a 144-117 defeat after Alison Stocks (21-9), Hazel Cuthbert (21-5) and Barry Binks (21-8) won well for Bawtry.
Last man Eamon Costello (21-2) won the match (137-127) for top-of-the-table Parklands at Brodsworth.
Parklands claimed an exciting 141-139 win over Bawtry, for whom Barry Binks (21-5) almost snatched his side a draw, thanks to Mick McGuire’s 21-4 win.
Brenda Staniforth (21-6) and Gil Grinney and Eddie Birdsey (both 21-4) helped give bottom club Thorne a rare (162-102) win, over Yorkshire Main B.
Ken Strutt (21-9) and Allan Birkby (21-5) were the Bentley match-winners in their 135-121 Division Four success over Pilks Rec. Last man Graham Kendell won 21-8 for Harvesters to secure them a 142-128 victory over Carcroft
