BARNSLEY’s move to sign Manchester City striker Alex Nimely fell through at the last minute yesterday.
Reds boss Keith Hill had hoped to sign the highly-rated youngster on loan ahead of this afternoon’s Yorkshire derby clash with Huddersfield Town. But Nimely will now have to wait to move to Oakwell after a hamstring problem was identified in his medical.
Nimely had agreed to sign the Reds until January 3, but Hill will have no reinforcements for the visit of the Terriers. However, Nimely could still sign for the Reds in the near future.
Hill has stressed he will only sign players who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and battle to help the club.
“We’ve got to have players who are coming in who want to fight for the cause,” he said.
“We can’t afford to carry any Prima Donnas or show-pony’s. They’ve got to be of the right character mentally and physically, but that’s where it’s very difficult to recruit.”
