STEELDOGS fans who travelled all the way to Basingstoke had to wait just two seconds for the action start - a fight between Bison’s Nicky Watt and Sheffield forward Craig Elliott.

Watt may have shaded the fight but Dogs went on to shut out Bison 3-0.

Edgars Bebris put Steeldogs in the lead as he put the puck past Stevie Lyle on a at 06:30, assisted by Andre Payette. A further bout of roughing then took place as Jaroslav Cesky and Ashley Calvert took exception to each other resulting in Calvert being given a match penalty and with Cesky receiving a roughing, cross checking penalties and then thrown out on 5+Game for resisting an official.

Dogs doubled their lead at 18:37 as Lubomir Korhon skated into the offensive zone unhindered with assists going to Bebris and Lewis Bell to end the first period 2-0 up. They extended that lead after Lloyd Gibson scored from a low shot past Lyle at 32:43, assisted by Payette and Steve Duncombe for an end of second 0-3 scoreline.

Further major penalties were picked up early in the final period as Miller was given a match penalty after hi-sticking Payette in the face, followed just over a minute later by Steeldogs’ Andrew Hirst catching Doug Sheppard on the head, who also was given his marching orders on a match penalty.
