RESURGENT Sheffield Steeldogs have their eyes on a Play Off place after gaining four points from two games last weekend.
Andre Payette’s men won 6-4 at Swindon Wildcats on Saturday before returning to iceSheffield and getting hjalf a dozenmorei n the 6-3 triumph over Telford Tigers.
Dogs are dependent on teams above them if they are to get up to eighth spot in the EPL and extend and their regular season.
On Sunday, Steeldogs took an early lead through Lubomir Korhon with a PP goal at 3:08, after some excellent passing by Andrew Hirst and Lloyd Gibson.
Telford were equalised a minute later and then took the lead seven minutes into the middle period.
Steeldogs went up through the gears and with a creative pass from Sedlar to Ben Morgan onto Greg Wood who found Lloyd Gibson who blasted in shot from the blue line past Declan Ryan to make it 2-2. At 35:07, Korhon claimed his second after a race down the ice with Hirst, further assisted again by Morgan, allowing Steeldogs to re-take the lead, one they kept for the rest of the match.
A two goal cushion was created by a goal from Payette, assisted by Gibson and Greg Wood. Wildcats reduced the margin to a single goal lead though, at 47:59 for a 4-3 scoreline.
Korhon pulled that back with his hat-trick goal at 50:54, after good passing from Edgars Bebris to Hirst to allow Korhon to fire home.
The trio then took the final score to 6-3 as Hirst converted a pass from Bebris from Korhon at 58:47.
