SHEFFIELD Steelers 4-3 home defeat by Hull Stingrays last night (Sat) still sees them sitting seven points clear at the top of the table.
But the deflating loss gave hope to second-place Belfast Giants, who won 9-0 in Edinburgh and have two games in hand, one of which is tonight at Hull.
Steelers, who do not play this evening, will be hoping Hull can pull off another shock.
Jeff Legue (2) and player coach Ben Simon scored the Sheffield goals, last night.
Cardiff Devils, in third place, lost 3-2 in overtime at Braehead Clan.
If they lose at home tonight with Nottingham Panthers, in regular time, it will be their fourth straight defeat and will see Corey Nielsen’s men sharethird spot.
