ELITE League champions Sheffield Steelers will play in Denmark in the European Continental Cup next season.

Ryan Finnerty will take his side to Group C hosts Herning Blue Fox’s rink, playing them, Italian side HC Asiago and the winners of an earlier round involving sides from Hungry, Holland and Spain.

The competition will take place on the 13-15th November with the winners progressing to the Super Finals in January at Rouen, France.

Sheffield owner Paul Ragan commented “I can’t wait for the European competition; this group especially is filled with exciting teams. Whilst we may be ranked third in the group there isn’t any reason why we can’t qualify for the Finals again. Team GB proved this year that even though they were seeded fourth at the World Championships those seedings don’t always count and came away with a silver medal.

“Ryan tells me that many of the players he i trying to recruit want to come and play for us because we have reached this competition. It’s certainly exciting times and ones we are all working hard building up to.”

Steelers will announce the signing of a 29-year-old power winger tomorrow.
