Steeldogs eye big Play-off upset

Have your say

Steeldogs are preparing for their own massive Play Off challenge this coming weekend against champions Manchester Phoenix.

Their post-season series gets underway on Saturday (7.30pm) at home in iceSheffield, with the quarter final representing Steeldogs biggest game of the season.

Andre Payette wants ‘to cause the biggest upset of the play-offs’ at Coventry. He also intends to provide some great entertainment to end the season on a high note.

With Payette on the sidelines for both games last weekend, Steeldogs went down by four goals in the first period away in Swindon on Saturday but fought back in the second with goals from Ozolins, Bebris, Gibson, with Grundmanis claiming Steeldogs fourth goal in the third period.

They nearly overhauled Swindon in the final period, however time ran out and the final scoreline read 5-4 to the home team.

Back home on Sunday Steeldogs hosted Basingstoke Bison, gong down 4-1, a consolation goal coming by Lloyd Gibson.

Steeldogs expect Saturday’s encounter to be a “feisty and well attended game against Manchester, especially after the last encounter as Payette and Andrew Sharp battled it out.”
