Sheffield Steeldogs continue to test themselves against the best sides in the English Premier League.

They are up against Guildford Flames (away) tomorrow and Basingstoke Bison at home on Sunday (5.30pm) at iceSheffield.

The Dogs, while having mixed results last weekend, remain top of the League for a second week, level on points with Manchester Phoenix.

Player coach Andre Payette says its part of his job to both praise his team and ensure they do not become complacent.

He said: “The game in Bisonland was the best so far, hard-hitting and hard fought but also fast-paced.

“It was a match which earned us a lot of respect from a team that regularly trounced us last season.

Fourth-placed Bison have a lot of experience with veterans Steve Moria and ex Steeler Nicky Chinn with three new top-end imports added to their team.

They also play good but hard hockey and any antipathy generated in the last match will still be fresh in the minds of both sets of players.

Payette said of the task “Sunday’s game is very important to us and we are really hoping to get some more points this weekend, especially as we are on the road next weekend. If our last encounter was anything to go by, this should be another feisty game and the fans, who were fantastic for us last Sunday, will love it”.
