Sheffield Steelkings Prepare for Playoffs
Sheffield Steelkings heading for London
On 12 and 13 September, both of Sheffield's para ice hockey teams head down to London to take part in the British Para Ice Hockey League Playoffs.

It's the first time since 2023 that both teams have qualified for the post season playoffs. The Steelkings-A, the Kings, finished top of the British Para Ice Hockey league for the second year running, retaining the league trophy they won in 2025. The Steelkings-B, the Stings, finished as runners up in second place, their highest ever league finish.
Finishing first and second in the league means the two Steelkings sides won't have to play each other in the semi-finals, making an all Sheffield final a real possibility.
The Kings will take to the ice first on Saturday, as they face the Cardiff Huskies in the opening match. The Kings beat the Huskies home and away in the league, with a 9-2 aggregate score over the two games.
The second game will see the Stings take on the Manchester Mayhem. The Mayhem came out on top in the pair's first matchup of the season, beating the Stings 3-1, but the Stings took revenge in the return fixture scoring four unanswered goals.
Sunday will open with the bronze medal game between the losers of the two semi-finals, before finishing with the gold medal game to decide the 2026 British Para Ice Hockey Playoff Champions. The Kings are four-time playoff champions, having won the playoffs in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025. They will be looking to add 2026 to that list as they aim to retain the playoff trophy for a fourth consecutive year.
