The Motorpoint Arena could be a little more entertaining next season after the Steelers confirmed the signing of 32 year old Canadian Pascal Morency.
The 5’10 200lb winger is know to be an aggressive agitator who will be the heartbeat of the team.
“I’ve known about and followed Pascal for many years” said head coach Gerad Adams “I knew one day I’d get the chance to sign him and when that chance came along I jumped
“The one word everyone tells you about this man is “Enthusiasm”for the game, the his team mates, for team play. Pascal plays with an edge, he will bring us some “screw you”
“It’s taken some time to work on the deal and get it all organised. Pascal spoke with players who play here now and have before to take his references on us. I couldn’t have been happier when we took the call to say the deal was finalised.
Morency played the last two seasons in Austrian Elite league with Zagreb and Olimpija Ljubljana, before that he graced the American Hockey league on 123 occasions. His junior career with Cape Bretton Screaming Eagles saw him amass an amazing 1,124 penalty minutes in just 210 games.
“He will be the hardest of working players” said Adams “he will surprise people with his skill level as well. Pascal has played in some serious leagues and put good numbers up. I think he will also compliment our skilled players and allow us to get the best out of them which is important.
“Of course he will stand up for his team mates as well. That’s a natural part of his game. Expect more than just that though, this is a serious professional hockey player who just made the Steelers better”
