Sheffield Steelers sense pack closing in

Have your say

Cardiff Devils have served a warning that they will challenge Sheffield Steelers and Belfast Giants all the way to the Elite League title.

Last night (Fri) two-club owner Paul Ragan’s ‘other’ side, Devils, picked up two points on the road as they brushed aside a sub-standard Coventry Blaze side 5-1 at the Skydome to move to within four points of league leading Sheffield.

Sheffield, Belfast and Cardiff have now all played 48 games.

Steelers and Giants play each other tonight, with Giants trying to whittle down the three point lead Ben Simon’s men have over them.

Sheffield players set off for Northern Ieland at 6am today, knowing they will have to overcome fatigue to win there and then tomorrow at Nottingham Panthers.

It is a tough mission, but Simon believes the team has the character and experience to overcome a recent dip in form and collect the points.
