Sheffield Steelers’ forward Luke Ferrara is hitting the gym more than ever before to try and be ready for the physical pressures facing him in his first season as an Elite League full-timer.
“I’ve bulked up, put muscle on and are now working on the power side of things” he said. “It is tough for sure but it’s what I have to do if I am to compete for places with the likes of Jonathan Phillips and Jason Hewitt.
“I know both of them will be in the gym as long as I am and will come prepared on the 10th August” said the GB prospect.
The 22 year old former Peterborough Phantoms assistant captain added: “I’m anxious to meet up with the boys and get on the ice, I wish it was tomorrow. There is a feeling that we have moved on, progressed. This fitness side is just one thing.
“The Champions Hockey League being first up makes all of us excited. We all want to come in and impress, we want to do well as individuals of course but we want the Steelers to do well and make our league proud.”
