JEFF Legue is the man Sheffield Steelers will turn to more than all others to ensure a New Year packed with points and, hopefully, prizes.
Coach Ryan Finnerty tried to assemble a team this season that is not as reliant on Legue as it has been previously.
But Finnerty admitted: “Jeff is very much our talisman and if we are to win tonight (Nottingham Panthers) and during the rest of this packed festive programme he will need to turn it on.
“Every great player goes through a dry spell, but Jeff is really on song right now and we need him to carry that on. Our big players have to play big when we need them most.”
Legue’s formation with Ashley Tait and Shawn Limpright is a handful for any opposition, and Finnerty is hoping that they and the other two lines will inflict damage on Panthers’ rearguard.
Steelers host Panthers tomorrow and then have two testing encounters with Coventry Blaze, on Sunday and Tuesday.
EPL neighbours Sheffield Steeldogs have further to travel.
They are at Basingstoke Bison this afternoon but then host Manchester Phoenix on Saturday.
They have two home games on January 5 and 6, against Swindon and Basingstoke.
