The team won the Challenge Cup final last Sunday, to tick off the list one of their season's objectives.

Now they aim to win all five of their remaining league games - to compete as hard as possible with title favourites and beaten finalists Cardiff Devils - before moving on to the Play Off contest.

Armstrong believes the quality and pace of the roster can push them on further.

"Skill-wise, I don't think anybody can compete with us," he said.

"We are a fast team, and the way that hockey is meant to be played now with the rules and everything...it's a fast game.

"So I hope that it is reffed that way."

Steelers coach Aaron Fox has been exasperated at officiating at certain parts of this season, although he has always recognised it can be a tough job.

"I think we are the fastest team in the league so if there is no grabbing or hooking it is going to be tough to stop us," said Armstrong.

The centre says he didn't blame any niggling and fouling for the results of games they'd lost recently.

He said losing recently to the bottom-placed two teams Dundee Stars and Fife Flyers had been: "On us- we beat ourselves."

But winning the cup had been a boost to him and his team-mates.

"When I wanted to come back I guess it was a year and a half ago, now, what we talked about was winning trophies. Our goal at the start of the year was first of all to try and win three (trophies) but at least win one."

That had now been accomplished so they were on to the next challenge.

As for the league title, the 32-year-old Canadian import added: "This is my third and a half season I guess in this league and I have been chasing that trophy the whole time - that is everyone's goal every year and there is no change to that."

While they were behind Devils in the pecking order, Armstrong said Steelers had previously showed in the league "we can come back even when we are down."

He said the team had been easy-going about their chances even if two or three down.
