SHEFFIELD Steelers defenceman Danny Meyers had a “horrible scare” after being concussed by a “blindside” check at Edinburgh Capitals, the club said today.

“Danny couldn’t feel his legs or his feet after being hit,” said a spokesman.

“He doesn’t want to get into the blame game, but he said it was the type of blindside hit the league could do without.

“Danny said he’d never been hit so hard in his life and felt he’d fractured his jaw at least. It was a horrible scare because his brain wouldn’t communicate with his legs. He’s still feeling sick now.”

Scots forward Neil Hay was ejected after the incident.

Meyers, along with broken-foot victim Jim Jorgensen, will miss Saturday’s match against Cardiff Devils.
