Jason Hewitt is doing everything right at the moment - barring scoring.
His Sheffield Steelers’ line with Jonathan Phillips and Phil Hill or Tim Spencer is one of the hardest working units in the Elite League.
But Hewitt hasn’t found the back of the net in the last 19 games.
And he’s deciding to keep his bushy beard until his breaks that run!
Asked about his facial grooming, Hewitt said on video at thestar.co.uk: “I’m just mixing it up, trying to get something going.... I haven’t scored for a while, so maybe I will keep it going for a while until I score.”
Tomorrow would be a good time to do that, against Dundee Stars in the Challenge Cup quarter final first-leg. The forward said Steelers were up against a team with two strong, skilled lines and good defence,
He pointed out Jerry Pollastrone and Nico Sacchetti as opponents they have “to be careful” of.
Steelers will have to defend better than they did in the early exchanges against Coventry Blaze, last Saturday, when they conceded three times.
“It was a freaky nine minutes, I don’t think you will see that in too many games this year, they were two Power Play goals and one maybe a breakdown but we showed a lot of character to come back, so we take the positives from it really” said Hewitt.
Dundee are second in the league table one place ahead of Sheffield.
