A new chapter in Shudra ice hockey has got underway in Sheffield.
Former NHL skater Ron Shudra is the biggest fan favourite ever to grace a Steelers’ shirt.
And now his 16-year-old son Cole, a junior England player, has taken up the mantle.
The debutant collected a point for Sheffield Steeldogs at Solway Sharks on Saturday and earned immediate praise from coach Andre Payette.
“It was absolutely fantastic to see Ron’s son Cole, a member of our Steeldogs Academy, a Sheffield Junior, playing regular shifts at 16 years old” he said.
“He got on the score sheet with an assist and this is what this competition is all about”.
Shudra junior and his new Steeldogs team mates won 5-1 in Dumfries.
They completed a weekend double victory a day later, beating Swindon 3-1, and sealing four straight wins in a row ahead of next weekend’s visits of Manchester (Friday) and Bracknell (Sunday).
Commonwealth boxing champion Ross ‘The Boss’ Burkinshaw was at the Swindon match as guest of honour.
