Andre Payette is targeting a mid-table league finish, after Sheffield Steeldogs put their double Telford Tigers disappointment behind them and secured three points out of four on the road.
The Steeldogs moved up to fifth in the EPL league standings after beating Milton Keynes Lightning in Coventry on Saturday, before narrowly losing on penalties to title-chasing Basingstoke Bison.
Reflecting on what Payette, the Steeldogs head coach, called a ‘tough weekend’ he told Grass Roots: “MK have only lost 11 games all season and two of them have now been to us in Coventry. It was a great win for us on Saturday.
“It was a long trip and we weren’t getting back until the early hours of the morning, before catching the bus to Basingstoke. We only just lost in overtime and it was one of the most intense games I have been involved in this season.”
This weekend, Steeldogs face a league double header at iceSheffield as Guildford Flames, another team chasing the league title, and midtable Bracknell Bees journey to Sheffield.
Payette’s side have lost all four of their games against Guildford this season - but they have enjoyed more success against Bracknell with two wins.
“Guildford are a really talented side and we know we are going to have to be at our best to get a result. Bracknell is going to be a massive game for us.
“Our goal is to achieve a mid-table finish with a Made in Sheffield team.
“We have to be winning games like this if we want to achieve that.”
