AS predicted, Elite League disciplinary committee today fined Sheffield Steelers coach Ryan Finnerty for comments made in The Star on Tuesday.

Finnerty was also taken to task for remarks on the club website.

It is a personal blow for the coach - but preferable to a ban, with the season reaching its defining weekends.

Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson has also been fined for comments he made on social media.

Meanwhile, Steelers d-man Chris Frank’s match penalty in his side’s Challenge Cup quarter-final first leg at Dundee Stars this week is to be reviewed.

Frank was thrown out of the game and given a match penalty for excessive roughness in the third period (59:59).

This penalty carries a minimum one-match ban.

The disciplinary committee will report on its findings in the next 24 hours.
