Icy welcome for opposing teams

ICESHEFFIELD - a nasty place to visit.

Not for the hundreds of skaters and ice fans, you understand, more visiting hockey teams.

Steeldogs coach Andre Payette says the £15m centre is gaining a repuation among EPL rivals as a hard place to play.

On Sunday his side beat Milton Keynes Lightning 3-1, reversing the away defeat to the same team, 24 hours earlier.

Payette said: “It was a hard fought weekend against a really tough team. We outshot MK 48-28 on Saturday but didn’t come out on top.

“On Sunday our fortunes were reversed and iceSheffield is becoming a nasty place for other teams to play in, as we have now won our last 12 home games; something our team can be really proud of. It was fantastic also that two of my young players (Ashley Calvert and Lewis Bell) were instrumental in the setting the tone for the night (both getting roughing penalties).

“We look forward to tomorrow (7.30pm) and Telford Tigers coming to iceSheffield.”
