Sheffield Steeldogs are forging a partnership with an Elite League club - but it isn’t their next-door neighbours, the Steelers.
The English Premier League team is to send home-grown players to the unnamed senior side for training and midweek games.
Last year, some of the imports trained with Steelers, the club which has often said it wants closer ties with the iceSheffield programme and city juniors.
But Dogs coach Andre Payette revealed: “Nothing has even been done to really work together with Steelers, now we have an opportunity elsewhere. I want our local guys to reach the highest level possible -this will help.”
Steelers’ title winning goalie Ervins Mustukovs has joined Odense of Denmark.
