SHEFFIELD Steeldogs have raided Elite League Hull Stingrays for their first new import player for next season, Estonian d-man Dmitri Rodin.
Rodin has just a successful World Championship campaign, where he captained Estonia to Gold medal promotion.
Rodin picked up 27 pts and 101 penalty mins last season and helped Hull to their first Play-off semi-final, after a shock win over Steelers.
Previously his playing career took him to America iat IHL & AHL level plus 252 in the UHL. He played 168 games in Czech Republic, followed by 108 games in Poland winning championship medals along the way before being snapped up by Hull.
Coach Andre Payette said: “Dmitri’s leadership qualities, as reflected in his national team’s captaincy, will be massively important on and off the ice with our young team next year.”
