STEELDOGS coach Andre Payette has ordered his team not to get over-excited by their league-leading start.

After two opening wins, Steeldogs take on Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday at iceSheffield, 5.30pm after returning from a long trip to challenge Basingstoke Bison tomorrow.

The Lightning always provide some crackling, feisty games which Steeldogs will relish with their new-found confidence in what will be MK’s first League weekend.

Payette said: “I was ecstatic over the results against Swindon Wildcats, particularly the way my players responded as a team to the challenge of going down 2-0 in last Friday’s first period.

To come back and win was awesome after last year’s results, as is sitting at the top of the League this week. However, although the lads enjoyed the maximum points weekend, it’s been back to hard training this week. We can’t get carried away with the perfect start, though it has lifted the team’s spirits.

“We now have to build on that start and concentrate on playing for a full 120 minutes against two tougher opponents this weekend.

“We will be looking for two points at iceSheffield this Sunday (5.30pm) against MK Lightning, who are always one of the top teams in the League. They consistently have that added grit and make their opposition work hard to take any points off them, and it should be an entertaining game to watch”.
