Sheffield Steelers won their second Challenge Cup group match tonight after a ding-dog battle in Coventry.
Coach Paul Thompson, back on his old stomping ground, saw his side lose a 2-0 and 3-2 lead before finally triumphing.
Man of the match Mathieu Roy scored the game winner, to crown a fine evening for his line.
Steelers owned most of the first period, Luke Ferrara scoring for his second consecutive game, after just 2;32.
Another high-flyer from last week, Jesse Schultz added another to double Sheffield's lead at the Skydome, this time on the Power Play.
But Blaze sliced that lead in half within two minutes of the first period, defenceman Marc Cantin scoring on the home side's PP, with Andreas Valdix in the penalty box.
Schultz is in unstoppable form right now, after being moved on the John Armstrong/Roy line.
And he finished a move involving his linematews at 23;26 to put Sheffield 3-1 up.
But for the second consecutive period, Blaze reduced the arrears near the end, Liam Stewart, son of pop icon Rod, shooting past Ervins Mustukovs to make it a 1-1 session.
The momentum swung again at 45;09 when Darcy Zajack brought Coventry on level terms, on the PP.
The excitement continued on the PP when Roy snapped in a goal to give Steelers a 4-3 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
Steelers defended stoutly, with Mustukovs keeping Blaze out with some key saves.
* Miika Wiikman posted a 29-save shut-out as Challenge Cup holders Nottingham Panthers claimed a 2-0 victory over Cardiff Devils at the National Ice Centre.
In a game which also counted for Elite League points, Panthers, who beat Devils 1-0 after overtime in last season's final, took a first-period lead through Chris Lawrence.
David Clarke wrapped up the win with an empty-net marker 30 seconds from time after Devils had pulled Ben Bowns.
Mike Forney scored twice as Belfast Giants beat Edinburgh Capitals 3-1 at the SSE Arena and three final-period markers helped Dundee Stars to a 6-3 win at Fife Flyers.
In the other Elite League game, player of the week Darian Dziurzynsk grabbed both goals as Manchester Storm edged past Braehead Clan 2-1 in Glasgow after Matt Keith's go-ahead strike.
