STEELERS’ boss Ryan Finnerty believes Scott Champagne is maturing nicely within the Sheffield roster.
The ex-Belfast Giants’ playmaker has played two games since signing for the third-placed Steelers. His chemistry with top scorer Jeff Legue is vital if the side is to overhaul Nottingham Panthers’ big lead at the top of the Elite division.
“He brings us something we need” said Finnerty. “He is creative, good on the Power Play and great in the dressing room. He has solidified the line with ‘Leggy.’ Their partnership will get better as they get more used to each other.”
Sheffield, who play at Fife tonight, need the other lines to be active scorers too. The Ashley Tait/Shawn Limpright/Steve Goertzen combo has done well lately. And Tylor Michel/Jason Hewitt/Jonathan Phillips will hope to emulate the form they showed when they “carried the team” earlier this season, said Finnerty.
