Brits rocked by late heartache

Have your say

A battling Great Britain performance saw them slip to a heartbreaking defeat yesterday as they failed to maintain their winning start to the world Championships in the Ukraine.

After beating the host nation on Sunday, GB played well but lost 2-1 against Kazakhstan in Kiev.

Former Sheffield Steelers winger David Longstaff put GB ahead after 17 minutes, but Kazakhstan levelled and struck the winner with five minutes left. Steelers’ Jason Hewitt, Mark Thomas and Jonathan Phillips took minor penalties.

GB play Estonia tomorrow. They can still win gold but need Kazakhstan to lose this week.
